Colour + Contrast
Photographers use contrast by placing light and dark areas colours or textures next to each other to make subjects stand out.
I used contrast by showing the dark airplane wing against the pink sunset to make it stand out.
Value + Emphasis
How photographers use emphasis?
Photographers use emphasis by making one part of an image stand out. Using light, focus, and colour to draw the viewers eye to the main subject.
How did I use emphasis?
I used emphasis by positioning the flowers in the middle of my frame and making sure there was bright enough light on the flowers to make them pop out of the picture.
Unity + Texture
Photographers used texture by capturing the details and surface quality of objects, so the photo feels more realistic and visually interesting.
I used texture by capturing the texture of the cake against the smooth counter to make it stand out.
Line + Balance
Photographers use lines to guide the viewers, eyes through the photo and draw attention to the main subject.
I used lines by stacking the books and the straight horizontal edges guide the viewers eye through the balanced image.
Space + Balance
Colour + Unity
